I'm doing something I have strangely never done...I'm giving myself a reading list for my 31st year. The books I have chosen are a mixture of fiction and nonfiction. I am constantly reading poetry, that is just a daily part of my life, so I did not include any poetry collections on this list for that reason.

I've chosen twelve books. One for every month. The goal: to read a book each month and then write a small reflection post upon conclusion. That is the assignment I have given myself.

All the books are by women. I can't wait to see what these ladies will teach me.

My birthday is June 21st so since it is half way through the month, I figured I would start the list with July.

July-American Girls by Alison Umminger

August-Witches of America by Alex Mar

September-The Creative Tarot: A Modern Guide To An Inspired Life by Jessa Crispin

October-Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay

November-A Field Guide to Getting Lost by Rebecca Solnit

December-The Group by Mary McCarthy

January-Tracks by Robyn Davidson

February-Zami by Audre Lorde

March-We Were Feminists Once by Andi Zeisler

April-The Pawnbroker's Daughter by Maxine Kumin

May-Little Birds by AnaÏs Nin

June-I Love Dick by Chris Kraus
